On May 20, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Iran Cong Peiwu met with Mr. Elhami, Vice Chairman of the Iran-China Friendship Association, and other main members of the Friendship Association.

Ambassador Cong briefed on China's principled stance on the current situation and the extensive work done to promote peace talks and de-escalate tensions. He praised the Iran-China Friendship Association for its positive efforts in promoting bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields, stating that the traditional friendship between the two countries is enduring, and will be revitalized in the new era and under new circumstances.

Mr. Elhami, along with other members, presented a plague to Chinese Embassy on behalf of the Association, and expressed sincere gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their assistance during Iran's time of crisis, providing firm political support and multiple batches of humanitarian aid, which Iran will always remember.
