On May 14, Ambassador Cong Peiwu met with the Iranian Assistant Foreign Minister and Director-General of Persian Gulf.

Ambassador Cong exchanged views with Alibek on the situation in the Middle East, introduced China's position on relevant issues, and stated that China will continue to work with regional countries including Iran to play a constructive role in achieving regional peace and stability.

Alibek spoke highly of the positive role played by China in regional and international affairs, and said that Iran is willing to maintain close communication and cooperation with China on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of common concern.
